Squat fire in Prague 4 on U Plynárny: firefighters on scene

An abandoned building occupied by squatters is on fire in Prague 4. The blaze broke out at U Plynárny. According to the Požáry.cz portal, firefighters are already working at the scene, and additional crews are gradually arriving.

There is no information yet on what caused the fire or how badly the building has been damaged. It is also unclear whether anyone was inside the squat when the fire started, or whether there are any injuries. More details will emerge once the rescue crews bring the situation under control.

A squat is a building that is used without the knowledge or permission of its owner. Such buildings often stand empty for years, and they can be dangerous inside: old wiring, rubbish and a lack of proper escape routes all increase the risk of fire. While firefighters are at work, residents of nearby buildings should keep away from the scene and avoid blocking access for emergency vehicles.
