Slavia defender Oscar leaves Czechia for Saudi Arabia

Brazilian defender Oscar is leaving Prague's Slavia for Saudi club Al-Taawoun. The Czech champions' management had already agreed to release the player before the start of the current season, in which he never featured.

Club chairman Jaroslav Tvrdík made no secret of the fact that Oscar was one of his favourite players. "If someone had told me a year ago that he was leaving Slavia, I wouldn't have believed it. Today I'll say that I wish Oska all the best. He had a year left on his contract and around three offers on the table. I wish him success if the move goes through," Tvrdík told reporters at the end of July.

His time at Slavia and achievements

Oscar joined Slavia in the summer of 2019 from Liberec, where he then spent another six months on loan. From the middle of the 2019/20 season he played for the Prague club continuously and gradually became one of the team's leaders.

During his time in the Czech league, the defender made 214 appearances and scored 12 goals. With Slavia, he won the Czech championship four times and the national cup twice.

The Brazilian's new club, Al-Taawoun, finished sixth in last season's Saudi league.
