Small villages in Vysočina receive funding to modernize their water systems

In the village of Stáj in the Vysočina Region, home to around 200 people, the local water supply — drawn from wells — could no longer keep up with residents' needs, leaving the village short on water. Local authorities have decided to drill a new well and are now building a reservoir to connect to it, according to Mayor Jan Cink.

The project is estimated to cost 10 million koruna, of which 7 million koruna is being provided by the Ministry, with an additional 1 million koruna coming from the Vysočina Region.

The village is receiving the funds through a regional programme supporting the construction of water infrastructure, running this year. According to the Vysočina Region, the programme's funds go not only toward water supply systems but also sewerage construction, wastewater treatment, and projects aimed at protecting areas from floods and droughts.

According to the Region's website, 110 million koruna was distributed among 46 applicants this year. Of that, 5.2 million koruna went to seven projects specifically related to drinking water.
