Vsetín, the leader of the Czech first hockey league, suffered their third defeat of the season: in Třebíč the team lost 2:3 on penalties. The hardest day, however, belonged to Chomutov — after a 6:1 rout by Prague’s Slavia, the club was left without a coaching staff.
Vsetín twice went ahead thanks to goals from Štěpán Matějček, but Třebíč answered each time. Three minutes before the end of regulation, Luboš Rob, who joined Třebíč from Vsetín this summer, tied the score, and the game went to overtime and then a shootout. Aleš Polědna was the only player to convert his attempt. Vsetín still top the table with 36 points, followed by Pardubice’s second team (34) and Tábor (32).
Jihlava’s Dukla could not claim a sixth win in a row and lost 5:6 to Tábor in a shootout. Jakub Valský scored the decisive goal in the third period, less than a minute before the final siren.
Slavia crushed Chomutov 6:1 at home and took three points for the first time in more than a month. The game was decided in the second half of the second period, when the Prague side scored four goals. Hricius (twice), Beran, Elias, Berka and Pružek got on the scoresheet, while Buser replied for the visitors.
Chomutov have conceded 20 goals in their last three games and dropped to the bottom of the table. The club’s management dismissed head coach Lob, along with Jakub Graf and Viktor Hübl. Petr Jíra and Jan Hranáč will take charge of the team on an interim basis, the club’s website reports.
Other results of the round: Sokolov — Pardubice’s second team 3:5, Havířov — Přerov 2:3 in overtime.
