Storm Knocks Out Power in Vizovice, Causing Disruptions at Masters of Rock Festival

A powerful storm cut off electricity to the town of Vizovice and its surrounding area, causing serious technical problems for the Masters of Rock music festival. Organisers reported that the entire town and the surrounding area were left completely without power.

According to organisers, the main Ronnie James Dio Stage was able to run on backup generators, so its programme is expected to continue as scheduled. However, the show by Swedish band Crucified Barbara had to be cut short mid-performance when the storm hit. "Unfortunately, the storm interrupted Crucified Barbara's set, and the show had to be stopped. The girls promise to come back to you next year, though," the festival organisers said in an apology to fans.

The second stage, the vendor stalls and other infrastructure that runs on the fixed power grid will only resume once the outage has been fixed, event organisers noted.

A similar situation unfolded on Friday evening at the Colours of Ostrava festival. A storm sweeping over the venue forced organisers there to cancel two concerts. The rest of the festival's programme continued afterwards without further disruption.
