Train kills man near Brno — traffic on the Tišnov–Kuřim line halted

Near the village of Hradčany in the Brno region, a train travelling from Tišnov to Brno struck and killed a man. According to Pavel Švab, spokesperson for the South Moravian Regional Police, the victim died before rescuers arrived — his injuries were incompatible with life, said Michaela Botová, spokesperson for the rescue service.

Forensic investigators have been sent to the scene, and police are now working to establish the circumstances of the tragedy.

How transport is affected

Because of the accident, train traffic on the Tišnov–Kuřim section has been suspended. According to Petr Štyaglavski, spokesperson for Czech Railways, passengers are being temporarily transported by replacement buses, though the number of buses is limited and they are running on a shuttle schedule. A guaranteed connection to the next train isn’t always possible — in some cases, passengers may have to wait for a later service.

Preliminary estimates suggest the disruption will last until around 4 p.m. Štyaglavski added that it may be possible to partially restore service earlier — at least on one track.
