Unknown Chemical Leak at Slovak Water Park Injures About a Hundred People

A leak of an unknown chemical substance occurred at one of Slovakia's public swimming pools, injuring around a hundred people. The incident took place in the Nitra Region, where visitors reported burning and stinging sensations in their eyes, nausea and other signs of irritation.

Once the complaints began coming in, the pool area was urgently evacuated, and rescuers started providing first aid to the affected people on the spot.

Emergency Services Respond

The leak was confirmed by Michaela Hundová, spokeswoman for the Nitra Region Fire and Rescue Service. Fire units from the town of Šaľa were immediately dispatched to the site, along with a specialised vehicle designed to handle hazardous substance spills. Six ambulances were also involved in the response.

People with the most severe health complaints were taken to hospitals in the towns of Galanta, Trnava and Nové Zámky. The exact substance behind the leak has not yet been identified — the question remains open.
