Estonia to build about 150 bunkers on the border with Russia

As part of the Baltic Defence Line, about 150 bunkers are planned along the border with Russia in Ida-Viru County. Around 50 of them will be built on private land, the minister said, according to the record of a parliamentary session.

The Baltic Defence Line is a joint project of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in case of an invasion of their territory. It is also meant to prevent a military conflict in the region.

According to the Estonian Ministry of Defence, once completed, the Estonian section of the line will consist of at least 600 bunkers, an anti-tank ditch, minefields and belts of combat obstacles, including “dragon’s teeth,” as well as wire and barbed-wire barriers.
