Zelensky Shares Footage of Devastation After Overnight Russian Strikes: Parents and Three Children Killed

Overnight on Thursday, a Russian ballistic missile struck an ordinary residential building in the Dnipropetrovsk region, killing a set of parents and three children. Rescuers managed to pull two other children out from under the rubble alive. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported the attack, sharing footage of its aftermath.

According to him, a rescue operation is also underway in the Lviv region, where a Russian strike hit a residential building. “Crews are clearing the debris, and the search for survivors continues,” Zelensky wrote, adding that Russia’s overnight attacks killed eight people across the country in total, with dozens more injured.

In addition, overnight and into Thursday morning, Russian forces struck the Kyiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

According to Zelensky, dozens of homes, businesses and infrastructure facilities were destroyed or damaged. The attack involved more than 70 missiles, a significant portion of them ballistic, along with over 280 attack drones. Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted more than 260 of the drones.

The Ukrainian president said a substantial number of the guided missiles were also shot down. “Due to a critical shortage of anti-aircraft missiles from our partners, our military is doing truly incredible things and showing an exceptionally high level of professionalism. This is outstanding skill that saves lives,” Zelensky wrote.

The strike on the Lviv region also had repercussions for neighboring Poland: Polish F-16 fighter jets were scrambled to track an unidentified flying object that had violated the country’s airspace. The object later exploded near Lublin, where Polish authorities found a crater roughly ten meters wide at the impact site.

According to a Polish outlet citing a source in government circles, the object was likely a Russian missile. Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile violated Polish airspace overnight Thursday.
