Journey times: our OpenStreetMap calculation from central Prague, without stops, borders or snow. Piste kilometres come from the Dolomiti Superski (DS) summary; resorts quote more (Kronplatz 125 km). Adult ticket-office prices, from cheaper dates (to 19 December, 10–30 January, from 21 March) to dearer ones (20 Dec–9 Jan, 31 Jan–20 Mar); Campiglio, Livigno and Tonale have own periods. DS valleys show a single-valley pass; the all-valley pass is €80–89 a day and €407–453 for six days. DS online is 5% cheaper if bought two days ahead.
Bormio (three areas, 110 km): €40–65 a day. In Campiglio, 3–6-day passes that include a Sunday cost €10 more. Children born 2019–2023 ski free with a full-price adult pass in DS, Campiglio, Livigno and Bormio (one child per paying adult). Season starts: Campiglio 21 November (Grostè only), the rest 27 November; Kronplatz and Livigno 28 November; Gardena, Alta Badia, Fassa and Bormio 4 December. Cortina and Tonale: no dates published. Buy passes on the official sites: DS (online from mid-November), Livigno, Campiglio, Tonale, Bormio.
The Sella Ronda links Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Arabba and Val di Fassa around the Sella massif. DS gives 44 km (23 km on skis, 21 km by lift), about six hours, medium difficulty. Start before 10:00 and reach the last pass by 15:30; either direction works. You need the all-valley DS pass: for six days it costs €29 more than a Gardena or Alta Badia pass on cheaper dates and €32 more on dearer ones (our calculation: 407 − 378, 453 − 421).
The calculated route is D5 to the border, A6, A93, A9, the Munich ring A99, A8, the border at Kufstein, A12 to Innsbruck, A13 to the Brenner and the Italian A22. The Brenner Pass is 581 km, 6 h 11 min away. From Brno we calculate about 610 km and 8 h to Cortina, 690 km to Val Gardena.
Winter equipment. Austria: from 1 November to 15 April, winter tyres on all wheels in snow, slush or ice, tread at least 4 mm (ÖAMTC). Germany: situational, fine €60 (ADAC). Italy: on the A22 from 15 November to 15 April winter tyres or chains must be on board even without snow (Autostrada del Brennero); on the Foscagno pass chains on board from October to April.
Bus and train. FlixBus lists Prague–Bolzano (Bolzano Sud) from 9 h 15 min, at least 8 a day (the page does not say whether they are direct). For trains DS names DB, ÖBB, Südtiroler Bahn and Trenitalia; we did not check a single Prague–Bolzano ticket.
Our calculation: two adults by car, six days in Val Gardena, ticket-office prices.
