Taxi in Prague 2026: Fares, Uber, Bolt and Airport Prices

Since 21 October 2026 Prague has a fare cap for metered taxis again: 70 CZK to board, 42 CZK per kilometre and 7 CZK per minute of waiting, with no surcharges. At that cap, the ride from the airport to the main station (18.1 km) costs at most 830 CZK without waiting. Apps have no cap, but you see the price first: on 30 October Bolt estimated the same trip at 449 CZK, and an average UberX ride from the airport costs 543 CZK. Around Prague checked fares, rules and contacts on official websites on 30 October 2026.

Taxi in Prague: the fare in force now

Prague City Hall set the cap in price decree (cenový výměr) No. 3/2026, published in gazette 106/2026 and valid from 21 October.

Part of the fareMaximumWhat to know
Boarding70 CZK per tripIncludes help getting in, loading luggage and the receipt
Kilometre42 CZKVAT included
Waiting7 CZK/minStanding at junctions and crawling in heavy traffic. Breakdowns and driver faults are not charged

This is the final price: no night, luggage or other extras. The cap only covers trips that start and end in Prague, so agree a price first for anything further.

The cap rose from 36 to 42 CZK/km on 1 August, was scrapped on 30 September and returned three weeks later after dozens of complaints, mostly from tourists, with receipts showing up to 450 CZK to board and 500 CZK/km. The prague.eu fare and the airport's note that the cap is gone are out of date.

Bolt, Uber, Liftago: how they differ

Since 1 July 2020 (amendment 115/2020) a car needs no meter if the trip is booked electronically with the final price given in advance. The cap does not apply to these bookings.

Bolt raises prices when demand is high (rush hour, big events, extreme weather), and Uber warns of the same. Neither publishes the size of these increases for Prague or a night rate. Liftago also takes bookings by phone: +420 266 266 000.

Prague airport taxi: Uber Airport and the rest

The airport's one official partner is Uber Airport. Cars wait around the clock right outside the arrival halls of Terminals 1 and 2. Three ways to book:

You then get a six-digit PIN to give the driver; without it there is no ride. The price appears before you confirm, and the airport says it cannot exceed the regular taxi maximum. It publishes no price list, but puts a typical ride to the centre (about 20 km) at around 800 CZK (32 EUR).

Other services pick up at the P1, P2 and PB Express car parks. Refuse offers from people outside the terminals, even with an Official Taxi label. Roadworks at Aviatická slow the rush-hour drive there.

Calculation: the maximum on typical routes

Our calculation, not a price list: 70 + 42 × km + 7 × minutes of waiting. Ten minutes in traffic adds 70 CZK. Distances: Bolt where an estimate is shown, otherwise the OSRM route planner.

What the driver must do

Metered taxi. Yellow TAXI roof light, operator's name on the car, yellow registration sticker, and a driver ID and meter display readable from your seat. On request you get a printed receipt with the operator, plate, times, route, kilometres and fare breakdown. By law you must be able to learn the price in Czech crowns before you buy; we found no specific rule on a price list on the door.

App booking. Final price before booking, operator, driver and car before the trip, e-mail confirmation right after it. A car with no meter must not carry a TAXI roof light. You can verify a driver's licence online.

Where to complain

At night without a taxi

The metro runs roughly from 5:00 to midnight. From midnight to 4:30, night trams 90–99 run every 30 minutes, all meeting at Lazarská, plus night buses 901–917. Lines 907 and 910 reach the airport without a change, from I. P. Pavlova in about 45 minutes. Normal tickets, no surcharge. See our Prague transport guide.
