At a German school on Tuesday morning, a 15-year-old boy hit a teacher and lightly stabbed an 11-year-old pupil. According to police, the boy, who came from Ukraine and had previously attended the school, arrived for classes together with the other children.
Shortly before eight o’clock he suddenly punched a female teacher. Other teachers pulled him away in time, but as he was leaving the building he managed to lightly wound the 11-year-old boy with a kitchen knife. The victim was taken away by ambulance and is not in danger. The attacker was led by teachers to a separate room, where police soon took him away.
The teacher later also went to hospital with minor stab wounds. Investigators believe the teenager came to school not only to cause harm: according to police spokeswoman Tina Rempfer, he at the very least accepted the possibility of the eleven-year-old pupil’s death.
What drove the boy to attack is still unclear. “A large-scale investigation is under way. We are looking into every possible aspect,” Rempfer said.
