Nail boards on a field road near Jaroměřice, Czechia: 18 cars damaged

Someone scattered boards with nails on a field road near Jaroměřice: 18 cars damaged

An unknown person has planted homemade boards with nails and screws on a field road near Jaroměřice in the Vysočina region. Eighteen cars have already been damaged, police reported; the number of victims and the extent of the damage are still being established.

According to Vysočina police spokeswoman Dana Čírtková, the perpetrator partly buried the boards in the road. Local drivers use it as a shortcut around the II/152 road, which is closed for repairs. An official detour has been marked for it, but many drivers take the shortcut anyway.

Police went to the scene after a report and seized the boards and other items. It is unknown when exactly they were planted: at least since the morning of Saturday, October 24. More victims are possible.

Police have not yet said what offence they are investigating. According to Čírtková, because the number of victims has grown, the damage is likely to be higher, and it could be a suspected case of damaging another person’s property.
