Several hundred people took to the streets of Prague to protest against the mandatory fees for public service media — Czech Television (ČT) and Czech Radio (ČRo). The march went from the Congress Centre to Kavčí Hory, where the television headquarters is located. At one point, police officers in heavy protective gear had to separate two opposing camps.
The protest was organized by the association Svatopluk. Participants walked from the Congress Centre to Kavčí Hory, chanting slogans along the way, including “ČT lies.” Motorcyclists also joined the protest.
A stage had been set up near the Czech Television building, where speakers addressed the crowd. Demonstrators listened to them on the approach to the building.
People who support public media also gathered near the television building: according to reports, there were several dozen of them — supporters of Czech Television and Czech Radio. The two groups ended up very close to each other, and at one point police preventively separated the two camps, deploying officers in heavy protective gear. The report does not mention any injuries or detentions.
