Jason Arday, whose name made headlines around the world over a plagiarism scandal and almost unbelievable fabrications in his own biography, was found unresponsive on Friday afternoon at his flat in the Battersea area of London.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene were only able to confirm his death, after which police were called in and the victim's next of kin were informed, the BBC reports.
"At this time we are treating his death as unexpected, but we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances," London police said in a statement.
Just days before the tragedy, last Wednesday, Arday resigned from his post as Professor of Sociology of Education at the prestigious University of Cambridge. He had denied accusations of plagiarism and of lying about his own academic and professional achievements.
