A dangerous incident occurred at the Háj u Duchcova stop near Teplice, when a train travelling from Děčín to Litvínov closed its doors on a baby stroller just as the mother had stepped onto the platform — with the stroller and child still partly inside the carriage.
The doors clamped shut around the stroller, and the train began slowly pulling away from the station. The woman refused to let go and was dragged along with the stroller for about 45 metres before the train finally stopped — only after bystanders on the platform shouted and alerted the driver, according to police spokeswoman Ilona Gazdošová.
The woman suffered scrapes and bruises in the incident and was taken to hospital. Fortunately, the child in the stroller was unharmed.
Police are now looking for witnesses to the incident. According to the police spokeswoman, investigators need to interview as many people as possible who were at the stop or on the train at the time in order to fully establish the circumstances. Anyone who witnessed the event is asked to call 158.
