France is once again gripped by protests: the authorities in Bordeaux have imposed a curfew on minors from 8 p.m. until Sunday morning, while large police forces are on duty in central Paris, at the Place de la Concorde. This is reported by Le Parisien.
Bordeaux's city authorities introduced the measure as a precaution. Minors may be out on the streets only when accompanied by their parents. The ban applies from eight in the evening until Sunday morning.
There is a massive police presence in the center of the French capital, at the Place de la Concorde. City Hall has banned all demonstrations at the site and prohibited gatherings. Even so, the “yellow vests” have still called on people to take to the streets.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez warned that Saturday's protests will be riskier, partly because the government has less information from trade union organizations. He also drew attention to social media posts urging people to commit violence against security forces, government buildings and shops, as well as looting.
There have also been calls for revolution and an uprising. According to the minister, ultra-left or radical left movements are behind them. Others are calling for morning blockades of the main transport arteries.
