Prague Zoo 2026: Opening Hours, Tickets and How to Get There
Prague Zoo is open every day: 9:00–16:00 in November and December, and until 19:00 in summer. An adult ticket costs CZK 330 at the gate or CZK 300 online, a child's ticket (ages 3–15) CZK 250 or CZK 200. The easiest way there is metro line C to Nádraží Holešovice, then bus 112. A ticket gives one entry and stops being valid once you leave the grounds. With the Prague Visitor Pass entry is free, and you collect your ticket at the information centre by the entrance.
How to get to Prague Zoo
- Metro and bus: line C to Nádraží Holešovice, then bus 112 or 234.
- Tram: tram 17 to Trojská, then change to bus 112 or 234.
- Ferry and on foot: the P2 ferry between Podbaba and Podhoří runs daily. From Podhoří you can walk or take bus 234, 235 or 236.
- Boat: about 75 minutes from Rašínovo nábřeží to the landing on Císařský ostrov, then over the footbridge. A combined ticket with zoo entry is available.
- Car: the address is U Trojského zámku 120/3, 171 00 Praha 7. The zoo's car parks hold about 850 cars.
What to know before you go
- Time: the zoo suggests setting aside at least half a day.
- Size: as of 31 December 2025 it had 6,576 animals of 692 species on 58 hectares, with 15 pavilions. The zoo opened in 1931 on a hilly stretch of the Vltava bank in Troja.
- What to see: the Indonesian Jungle with its Komodo dragons, the sea lions, Monkey Island, the gorillas, the Przewalski's horses and the Elephant Valley, the largest exhibit.
- Sea lions: the exhibit is closed on Fridays for pool cleaning. If Friday is a public holiday, cleaning moves to Thursday.
- Africa Up Close: from 5 October until about the end of November the pavilion is reachable only from the north gate, and its outdoor exhibits are closed while paths are rebuilt.
- Getting around: there is no zoo train, and the children's tram is out of service for now. The chairlift runs depending on the weather and costs CZK 40.
- Dogs: allowed on a leash if vaccinated, but not indoors. The fee is CZK 100.

Prague Botanical Garden, Troja
The city's botanical garden sits right next to the zoo, at Trojská 800/196, 171 00 Praha 7 – Troja. Its nearly 30 hectares include St Clare's Vineyard, a Japanese garden and the 130-metre Fata Morgana tropical greenhouse with aquariums. The garden and greenhouse are open 9:00–16:00 from November to February and 9:00–19:00 from March to October. The greenhouse closes on Mondays. One ticket covers everything: CZK 180 at the gate or CZK 150 online, reduced CZK 120 or CZK 100, family CZK 540 or CZK 450. The 2026 live butterfly show ran from 2 April to 17 May, and no 2027 dates are on the website yet.
Mořský svět, Výstaviště Holešovice
The largest marine aquarium in the Czech Republic stands on the Prague exhibition grounds at Výstaviště 67, 170 00 Praha 7. It has more than 60 tanks and over 360 species, and its biggest tank holds 100,000 litres. It is open 365 days a year: 8:30–18:00 on weekdays and 9:00–19:00 at weekends. Tickets cost CZK 440, CZK 350 for students and CZK 280 for children under 15. From Nádraží Holešovice metro station take a tram to the Výstaviště stop.
Toulcův dvůr, Praha 10 – Hostivař
This eco-farm and environmental education centre is at Kubatova 32/1, 102 00 Praha 10. It is a slice of countryside in the middle of a residential district: protected historic buildings and a natural area with a garden, field, meadow and floodplain forest. The main draw is its old Czech breeds, such as the Prestice pig, Czech Red cattle and Hutsul horses. It opens 10:00–16:00 from November to February, 10:00–18:00 from March to June and in September and October, and 9:00–18:00 in July and August. You can walk around the grounds without booking; entry to the paid area costs CZK 60, CZK 30 for children from 3 and pensioners, and CZK 130 for a family. The rules ban touching and feeding the animals.
Farmapark Soběhrdy
If you are willing to drive about half an hour from Prague, try this family park in the village of Soběhrdy, 256 01. Parking is free. It has more than 30 attractions, including a train, tubing, boats and an indoor play hall. In summer animals are fed with a keeper twice a day; in winter this is only for pre-booked groups, and feed is sold at the info booth. The website says the park is open all year, daily 10:00–18:00, but it can show an earlier closing time for a given day, so check before you set off. Prices are not shown on the home page.
Papilonia in Prague has closed. The butterfly house on Na Příkopě is no longer on this list: the chain's website marks the Prague branch as temporarily closed, and the operator says it is looking for a new site without giving a date.
If you only have one day, start with the zoo and the Botanical Garden, which sit next to each other and combine easily. Mořský svět works well in bad weather, and Toulcův dvůr in Prague or Farmapark Soběhrdy outside the city will show children real country life.
