Is the Prague Visitor Pass Worth It? 2026 Prices and the Maths

The Prague Visitor Pass costs CZK 2,700 for 48 hours, CZK 3,300 for 72 hours and CZK 3,900 for 120 hours (adult), roughly €111, €136 and €160. It is worth it only on a full programme: by our calculation 5 paid sights in 2 days about break even, and 8 sights in 3 days save around CZK 350. For 1–2 museums, single tickets plus a 72-hour PID transport ticket at CZK 340 are cheaper. Around Prague checked prices, the attraction list and the terms on official websites on 30 October 2026.

Prague Visitor Pass vs Prague Card: two different products

The Prague Visitor Pass is the city's card, run by Prague City Tourism and launched in June 2022. The Prague Card is not its old name. It is the physical version of Prague CoolPass, sold by the private company CoolPass s.r.o., a brand dating from 1992. It does not include public transport, runs for 1 to 10 consecutive days and is priced in euros: €96 for 2 days, €116 for 3 days.

Prices are set in Czech koruna; the euro figures above use the Czech National Bank rate of 29 October 2026 (€1 = CZK 24.335). There is no 24-hour version and no senior price. Students show a student ID or ISIC card, children a document with a photo. For under-6s the operator advises buying entry separately, as most sights let them in free.

What's included and what isn't

The official list on 30 October 2026 had 114 entries: 86 free and 28 discounted, including cafés and shops. The key ones:

The list does not include the National Museum, Strahov Monastery, the Kafka Museum, the Museum of Communism or the Prague Castle permanent exhibitions. Trains and zones beyond Prague are also excluded, so day trips to Kutná Hora or Karlštejn need a separate ticket.

How the pass works

Where to buy

Online: the official website and the free Prague Visitor Pass app (registration required). In Prague: visitor centres at the Old Town Hall, Rytířská 12, Prague Castle, Petřín and the airport (T1 and T2, 8:00–20:00), plus DPP offices such as the Main Railway Station. Only the visitor centres exchange online vouchers for a card; see the full list. The terms treat a pass bought any other way as invalid.

Is it worth it? 2-day and 3-day calculation

This is our own calculation for one adult, using prices from each sight's website and pid.cz; we have not tested the pass ourselves. Transport uses PID Lítačka app prices (24 hours CZK 140, 72 hours CZK 340; on paper CZK 150 and 350).

The pass website shows CZK 2,710 saved in 72 hours, but its example packs in 12 items over 3 days. Ordinary 24-hour and 72-hour PID tickets cover the Petřín funicular but not the AE bus or vintage tram 42 (CZK 450, free with the pass). That gives a break-even point: how much admission you must buy for the pass to pay off.

120 hoursCZK 3,900CZK 620 (72 hours + 24 hours × 2)CZK 3,280

Good value for 5–8 paid sights in 2–3 days, with the AE, or for 5 days: 120 hours costs only CZK 600 more than 72. On the 2-day route a student pays CZK 2,160 against the CZK 2,050 pass, and a child aged 7–11 CZK 1,450 against CZK 1,350. Children aged 6–14 ride free in Prague anyway with proof of age.

Poor value for 1–3 sights, for trips outside Prague and for visitors aged 65+, who ride free with a passport and pay reduced admission at many sights. Check the calendar: the Jewish Museum closes on Saturdays and Jewish holidays.

If you only want 1–2 museums

Prague Castle, the Jewish Museum and a 72-hour PID ticket cost 450 + 600 + 340 = CZK 1,390, or CZK 1,310 less than the 48-hour pass. The Castle ticket lasts 2 days, the museum ticket 3 opening days. If you mainly want views, the 9 Prague Sights in 365 Days ticket at CZK 990 covers the Old Town Hall, Petřín, the Clementinum and the bridge towers, lifts included. With it the 3-day route costs 1,830 + 990 + 340 = CZK 3,160.
