The IPN summer cinema in Prague will screen “2000 Meters to Andriivka,” a documentary by Oscar-winning director Mstyslav Chernov — a gripping chronicle of the battle for a strategically important village in eastern Ukraine, where every meter of ground is paid for in human lives. After his 20 days in Mariupol, the director once again pushes the boundaries of war documentary filmmaking, portraying war as a nightmare no one can wake up from.
Before the screening, there will be a discussion starting at 20:00, featuring journalist and Ukraine specialist Lenka Vichová and Martin Ochnecht, head of the “Help Ukraine” project run by the organization Memory of the Nation. The guests will talk about the mood in Ukraine and the everyday life of soldiers and civilians, and will also display equipment — bulletproof vests, helmets, and medical gear — that is being sent to the front. The film screening begins at 21:15.
