A rainy day means at least 1 mm. The centre averages 16 days of 30 °C or more a year, 7 of them in July. At the Praha-Ruzyně station by the airport (364 m) the annual average is 9.0 °C, matching the official ČHMÚ normal for Prague and Central Bohemia. The centre is 2.3 °C warmer at 11.3 °C. The climate is warming: the centre averaged 12.1 °C in 2011–2023.

A white Christmas is rare: in those 30 years, at least 1 cm of snow lay on any day of 24–26 December 4 times in the centre and 12 times at the airport.

When Prague is busiest

ČSÚ, the Czech Statistical Office, counts guests in hotels, guesthouses and other places with at least 5 rooms and 10 beds. Small Airbnb-style flats and day-trippers are not included. The latest full year is 2025, with a record 8.28 million guests. Stays per day is our calculation: monthly stays divided by days. Season limits are also ours: low under 500,000 guests, shoulder 600,000–680,000, high 700,000–750,000, peak 775,000 or more.

Which month suits your trip

When Prague is most expensive and crowded

We found no official monthly hotel prices for Prague alone. The closest measure is the hotel price index for all of Czechia (Eurostat, 2025 = 100): in 2025 it stood at 94.3 in January, 102.8 in May and 101.7 in December. Part of that gap is general price growth, not the season. Cushman & Wakefield, citing STR, puts the average Prague room at €123 in 2025 with occupancy of almost 77%, and above 80% for six months of the year. There are no weekly figures, so check New Year and Easter rates with hotels.
