Overtaking a truck near Brno ends in head-on crash: driver of oncoming car killed

A serious crash occurred this morning on the I/50 road between Vícemilice and Nevojice, near Buchovice (Brno-Country District). A car driver collided with an oncoming vehicle while overtaking a truck. The other driver, a woman, died at the scene.

How the crash happened

The crash took place a few minutes before six in the morning. Rescuers rushed to the scene and began freeing a person from the vehicle, firefighters said on the social network Threads. Traffic on the road was partially maintained, with one direction left open.

According to police spokeswoman Andrea Cejnková, the driver of one of the cars was overtaking a truck, pulled into the oncoming lane and collided with a vehicle coming the other way. Its driver, a woman, died at the scene.

Resuscitation failed

Paramedics tried to save the victim. According to ambulance service spokeswoman Michaela Botová, resuscitation was performed on one person at the scene, but despite all efforts, vital functions could not be restored.
