A Prague resident has discovered her name on an election candidate list put forward by a structure linked to billionaire Pavel Sechnal — even though she signed nothing and does not support the group. The woman has turned to the police, who will now examine possible election violations.
The Prague woman found out about her candidacy by chance: an acquaintance told her. She says the party on whose list she appeared is not one she would ever vote for, and she never gave her personal data to anyone. “All it takes to get on a list is a name, some profession and a signature, so someone apparently forged my signature,” she suggested.
The woman is outraged: in her words, it is also a blow to her reputation, and neighbours have already been asking her about the situation.
The police confirmed that the complaint has been accepted. According to Prague police spokesman Jan Rybanský, it will be examined for possible unlawful acts connected with the elections, and the legal classification has not yet been determined.
Pavel Sechnal is a billionaire and politician who has chaired the party “Alliance for the Future” since 2016 and served as a Prague 18 district councillor in 2018–2022. His SPGroup includes, for example, the Aquapalace Praha sports and wellness complex. He currently heads the regional association “Červené Letňany”. The association’s position is still being clarified.
