Frankfurt an der Oder: ten teenagers brutally beat a schoolboy

Ten teenagers brutally beat a schoolboy in Frankfurt an der Oder

Police in Frankfurt an der Oder are investigating an attack by ten teenagers on a schoolboy. The suspects are aged 13 to 15 and are accused of causing bodily harm and robbery. The victim suffered facial injuries, and the attack was recorded on video.

According to police, cited by the website of the weekly Focus, the suspects are Germans, Poles, Russians and Syrians. “The boy had facial injuries,” a police spokesman said.

The footage shows about ten teenagers first harassing the boy and then lunging at him with fists and kicks. Even after he fell to the ground, they kept beating and kicking him. Investigators said they consider the video authentic.

Given the brutality of the attack, police plan to meet with representatives of the city, the school authority and “other partners”. Germany is grappling with a rise in violence on school grounds, for example in Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalia, where in past years police recorded tens of thousands of incidents, including attacks on teachers and fights between groups of pupils.
