Motorcyclist clocked at 120 km/h in Plzeň city limits

On Saturday evening in Prague’s... well, actually Plzeň’s Lochotín district, a radar in a municipal police patrol car caught a motorcyclist speeding at 120 km/h on Karlovarská Street, where the city speed limit is 50 km/h.

According to Jana Pužmanová, spokesperson for the Plzeň City Police, the driver was clocked at more than double the allowed speed. “On a racetrack, a figure like that wouldn’t raise an eyebrow, but Karlovarská Street is certainly not the place for it. There are intersections nearby, other cars, pedestrians, and countless situations a driver moving that fast simply can’t anticipate in time,” she stressed.

What the offender faces

An administrative body will now decide on the punishment for the motorcyclist. Pužmanová noted that the driver faces a fine of up to 25,000 CZK, a driving ban of six to eighteen months, and six penalty points added to his driving record.
