Czech President Petr Pavel is on holiday in Morocco: in a published photo he is riding through the desert with a well-known photographer of marathon rallies who has covered the Dakar. The photographer is Lusk, and the two know each other from the motorsport world.
Pavel left on a private trip abroad on 2 October and, according to Prague Castle, is due back at work on 19 October. The President’s Office initially did not name the destination because the trip is private. It had already emerged, however, that the head of state went to Morocco, where he also met participants of the Rallye du Maroc.
Because of the holiday, Pavel will not be able to vote in the municipal elections in his home village of Černouček. Prague Castle said it regrets the planning mistake. The municipal council elections and the first round of the regular elections to a third of the Senate take place on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 October. No senator is being elected in Pavel’s Senate district this year, however.
