On Sunday afternoon in Prague’s Dejvice district, a girl of about ten ran onto the tracks in front of an approaching train. The train threw her aside; the child stayed conscious and her life is not in danger.
The girl was waiting for the train with her parents. “As it was pulling into the station, the girl slipped away from her parents and ran onto the tracks without looking,” police spokesman Jan Rybanský said.
She was very lucky: the train did not drag her under it but “only” threw her some distance away. Paramedics took charge of the girl immediately.
“We sent both a rescue crew and a doctor with an inspector to the scene,” ambulance service spokeswoman Jana Poštová said of the response. According to her, the girl was conscious the whole time and out of danger. Doctors gave her first aid on the spot, after which she was taken to one of Prague’s trauma centres.
