Tram hits man wearing headphones in Czech city of Brno, injured

In Brno, a tram hit a young man wearing headphones: the accident happened just after 2 p.m. on Palackého Avenue in the Královo Pole district, between the Tylova and Semilasso stops. The impact threw the man onto the road; he suffered severe injuries and was hospitalized.

According to the Brno public transport company, the victim was wearing headphones at the moment of the collision. “We stabilised the man, connected him to a ventilator, and after providing first aid transferred him with severe injuries to hospital for further treatment,” said Michaela Botová, spokeswoman for the South Moravian Region's emergency medical service.

Tram traffic at the scene was completely halted for around half an hour. Police are now investigating the exact circumstances of the collision and what preceded it.
