Vegetation fire breaks out over large area in Prague

A fire broke out in Prague's Letná Gardens in the evening, engulfing vegetation over an area of roughly six by fifty metres — about 300 square metres in total. The news was confirmed by fire brigade spokeswoman Kateřina Benešová.

According to her, fire units from the Holešovice, Sokolská and Petřiny stations, as well as the Prague Castle fire brigade, responded to the scene. The flames spread through bushes and grass in the popular park in the Prague 7 district.

Shortly before 9pm, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control. The spokeswoman said that twenty minutes past nine, crews were still dousing the affected area with water as a precaution to prevent the fire from reigniting.
