60,000 Migrants Flood Spanish Ceuta in Just a Few Days — Sánchez Blames Criminal Gangs

Around 60,000 migrants have arrived in recent days at Ceuta, Spain's enclave on the North African coast, attempting to cross the border between Morocco and Spanish territory. According to authorities in Madrid, nearly half of them have already been sent back.

Chaotic attempts to storm the border fence have turned tragic — reports indicate that 34 people have died. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said the mass influx of migrants was being orchestrated by criminal networks profiting from smuggling people across the border.

The situation in Ceuta remains tense, with both local authorities and the Spanish government struggling to manage the flow of people seeking to reach European Union territory through one of the few land borders between Africa and Europe.
