Trump Says US and Israel Postponed Strikes on Iran at Tehran

US President Donald Trump has announced that Washington and Israel have postponed planned "harsh strikes" on Iran, saying the request came from Tehran itself and other Middle Eastern countries after the basic framework of an agreement had been worked out.

"The United States is ready and determined to strike the Islamic Republic of Iran with a measure of military terror, force and might unseen since World War II," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. He stressed, however, that it was Iran that initiated the request to delay the attack, since the sides had already agreed on the basic outlines of a future deal.

According to the American president, the arrangement envisions the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to the Iranian nuclear threat. "Given this request, for the sake of the future well-being of the world, and for the sake of the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, I have agreed to call off the strike — on condition that an agreement is reached quickly," Trump wrote, adding that Israel had also joined this commitment.

Earlier on Saturday, the US embassy in Jerusalem had warned American citizens of a possible sudden escalation of the conflict with Iran. A similar warning was issued by Washington on February 27, and the following day the US, together with Israel, struck Iranian territory.

Since the signing of a memorandum of understanding on June 14, which envisaged reaching an agreement to end the war within sixty days, the US and Iran have repeatedly accused each other of violating its terms. During this period, Iran has attacked ships in the Strait of Hormuz as well as American facilities in the region, while the US has carried out several strikes on Iranian territory. Global oil prices continue to fluctuate in response to new attacks and statements from the American president.
