In the Czech town of Šumperk, a driver lost control of his Škoda Octavia after being blinded by bright sunlight and crashed into a Škoda Kamiq driving ahead of him — the crash injured the Kamiq's driver and her passenger, who were taken to hospital complaining of pain in the neck and head.
According to the Octavia's driver, he was driving along Jesenická Street towards the town of Bludov when he was blinded by the sun and failed to notice the car ahead. Police spokeswoman Miluše Zajícová said on Tuesday that this was the cause of the crash he gave.
Both injured women complained of pain in the cervical spine and head. They were treated at the scene and then taken by ambulance to Šumperk hospital for further examination, said Lucie Míková, spokeswoman for the regional emergency medical service.
Breathalyzer tests on both drivers came back negative. According to police, the damage to the vehicles amounted to 130,000 crowns.
