Train hits stones placed on the tracks near České Budějovice

Near České Budějovice on Monday at about 6:30 p.m., a passenger train hit stones deliberately placed on the tracks between the stations of Nová Ves u Českých Budějovic and České Budějovice. According to Martin Kavka, a spokesperson for the Railway Administration (Správa železnic), the train did not derail and no one was injured.

All emergency services are at the scene. Police are investigating the incident on suspicion of endangering the public. Police spokesperson Jiří Macner said officers are looking for witnesses: anyone who saw people or a suspiciously parked car on the tracks between these stations around 6:30 p.m. on Monday. They should call 158.
