Passenger Bites Airport Staff at Prague Airport After Being Denied Boarding

On Thursday evening, an aggressive passenger attacked four employees of the handling company Menzies at Prague's Václav Havel Airport after being denied boarding on a flight to Rome. The incident took place at Terminal 2, near Gate C9, shortly after 8 p.m., according to the news outlet Zdopravy.cz, which cited an internal report and witness statements.

The woman arrived late for boarding on a Ryanair flight and, after being refused entry onto the plane, lashed out at staff. According to one of the injured employees, he stepped between the aggressive passenger and his colleague — at which point the woman bit him. Police were called to the scene, used restraint equipment on the woman, detained her, and escorted her to the airport's transit zone.

Police Investigating Disorderly Conduct

"The woman was late for the boarding gate, and after being denied boarding, she physically attacked an airport employee. The responding officers detained her using restraint equipment, and the case is now being investigated as disorderly conduct," Josef Urban, a spokesperson for the Foreign Police Directorate, told Zdopravy.cz.

The incident was also confirmed by Prague Airport spokesperson Jiří Hánich: "At the boarding gate before the evening departure to Rome, an incident occurred in which one of the passengers behaved aggressively toward staff of the handling company. Airport security and the police were called to the scene. The aggressive woman was removed from the flight and handed over to the Czech police for further proceedings."

The injured staff members required medical assistance. The handling company Menzies Aviation has operated at Václav Havel Airport since 1991, providing ground handling services for passengers, baggage, aircraft, and cargo for a significant share of the airport's flights.
