In Czechia, foggy mornings and sunny spells at the start of the new week will give way to rain from Wednesday, and it will turn cooler towards the weekend. According to forecasters, up to 20 mm of rain will fall by Thursday — across most of the country, the first noticeable rain in a long time.
At the start of the week the weather is shaped by a ridge of high pressure from Scandinavia and an upper-level low from Poland. Monday will be cloudy or overcast, with fog in places in the morning, and light rain or drizzle is possible in the mountains in the north and northeast. Morning temperatures will be around 4 °C, daytime highs 10 to 14 °C, with a weak northeasterly wind.
Tuesday will begin with fog or low cloud, and in the afternoon the sky will start clearing from the south (except in western and northwestern Czechia). Morning lows will be 1 to 5 °C, and under clear skies and calm conditions the temperature will drop to −2 °C. In the Vysočina region and in northern Czechia, the southeasterly wind will strengthen, with gusts of up to 60 km/h.
On Wednesday an Atlantic trough with a frontal system will approach Central Europe. In Bohemia it will be cloudy and foggy from the morning, with rain and showers arriving from the west during the day; in Moravia and Silesia it will be mostly partly cloudy for much of the day, and precipitation will arrive only in the evening. Overnight lows will be 3 to 7 °C, daytime highs from 10 °C in western Bohemia to 20 °C in Moravia and Silesia.
On Thursday, rain will still fall in Moravia and Silesia at first, while in Bohemia the sky will break up into partly cloudy conditions in the afternoon. Morning temperatures will be 6 to 10 °C, daytime highs 9–13 °C, with a moderate northwesterly wind.
On Friday there will be less precipitation: cloudy or partly cloudy, with fog in places in the morning, overnight lows of 1 to 5 °C (down to −1 °C where skies clear) and daytime highs of 12–16 °C. At the weekend an Atlantic trough with colder, more humid air will probably reach us. It will be cloudy, with rain and showers in places, and snow in the mountains. Daytime highs in the lowlands will generally not exceed 12 °C.
