Třinec hockey: Kurovský and Hudáček suspended after stick fouls

Třinec players Kurovský and Hudáček to miss games over dangerous stick fouls

Třinec forwards Kurovský and Hudáček have received additional punishments from the disciplinary committee for fouls in Sunday's game against Pardubice (a 5:4 overtime win for Dynamo). Both will miss Friday's game against Mladá Boleslav, and Kurovský will also sit out Sunday's game against Sparta.

In the 54th minute, with Třinec still leading 4:3, Kurovský struck Pardubice defenseman Tomáš Dvořák in the face with his stick, away from the main action. Referees Prážák and Zeliska gave him a minor penalty, and now the committee has added its own punishment. “After a battle in which both players were skating side by side, Kurovský deliberately hit Dvořák in the head area with his stick, which he held with both hands. He bore exclusive responsibility for this action,” the committee said, taking into account that Kurovský has been punished repeatedly of late and that Dvořák was able to finish the game.

Hudáček was punished for a foul on Tomáš Nosek in the third period of the same game. The Slovak forward was pinned against the boards and then hit Nosek from behind on the back with his stick, held in both hands, also clipping his helmet. “Here too it was a deliberate action for which Hudáček was responsible, and it did not result in an injury to his opponent,” Bičánek said. The referees also limited themselves to a minor penalty in the game.

Another punishment went to Matyš of Olomouc, who will lose 10% of his monthly salary. In the middle of Sunday's game in Hradec Králové, he tripped head referee Adam Kika, who fell onto the ice. No penalty was called for it during the game.

“Matyš caught the referee from behind with his left leg, and the referee fell uncontrollably onto the ice surface. The player had enough time and space to avoid the contact or soften it. Judging by the available footage, his actions cannot be described as fully intentional, and the player apologized to the referee,” the disciplinary committee said in its statement.
