Rostov-on-Don fire: metalworking plant for Russian army ablaze

Fire at a plant supplying the Russian army in Rostov-on-Don

A fire is burning at the Aksaykardandetal metalworking plant in Rostov-on-Don. The cause of the blaze is not yet known. Around 150 firefighters and rescuers and 14 units of equipment have been deployed to fight it.

According to a local news portal, the company has the capacity for a full metalworking cycle, including stamping and heat treatment. This specialisation allows it to produce gearbox components, driveshafts and spare parts for Russian agricultural and military vehicles, including heavy KamAZ and Ural trucks, which the army uses to haul ammunition and supplies.

The plant is located not far from the front line and serves as a key logistics hub for spare-parts supplies to the southern flank of the Russian army. The fire at the warehouse therefore complicates the supply chain in this important region.
