Trump calls Fox News host “dumb as a rock” on election night

US President Donald Trump publicly attacked Fox News host Jessica Tarlov on the evening of November 3, 2026, as votes in the midterm elections were being counted. On his social media platform, he called her “dumb as a rock” and said he would switch to another channel until she was off the screen.

Trump watched the election coverage at the White House and, judging by his post, was far from happy with what he saw. “I can’t stand Jessica Tarlov’s voice. She’s dumb as a rock,” he wrote. According to the president, it is the host’s voice that “really drives you crazy.” He added that he would return to the broadcast later, once “this zero” was gone from the screen.

A favorite channel becomes a target

The outburst stands out all the more because Fox News is one of Trump’s favorite TV channels. The network has long given plenty of airtime to conservative views and Republicans, and some of its hosts have traditionally been very loyal to the president.

Lately, however, relations have cooled. Trump has criticized the channel for supposedly giving too much space to Democrats, and has also attacked its election polls. He voiced his latest complaints right after the first polling stations closed, claiming that Fox News’s viewership had plunged “because they’re against me.”

“This isn’t my defeat”

The president later calmed down and gave Fox News a telephone interview. He described the election results as “not a personal defeat” and blamed them on voters simply “not liking Republican Party candidates.”

According to preliminary data, the Democrats will win control of both chambers of Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate. That could seriously affect Trump’s work in the White House going forward.
