Revolut Bank chief: a million new customers every 17 days

Every 17 days, a million new customers: Revolut Bank

The head of Revolut's European banking arm, Polish-born Kuba Fast, says the company is gaining around a million new users every 17 days and has already passed 80 million customers worldwide, more than 55 million of them in Europe. In Czechia, where Revolut still has no staff of its own, the bank expects to bring its customer count to 1.5 million by the end of the year.

Fast took over Revolut Bank UAB — the fintech giant's European banking entity — this summer, after it was approved by the European Central Bank and the Bank of Lithuania. Before that, he built the digital bank Chase UK, created by the American giant JPMorgan, from scratch and then ran it. According to the executive, it was precisely the chance to build something new that drew him to Revolut too, even though this is no longer a startup but Europe's largest bank by number of customers.

“Even though we're the largest bank in Europe, we operate with a day-one mentality — as if every day starts from zero,” Fast says. According to him, the company's growth potential is estimated at two to three times its current figures, and “the only limit is the sky.”

The company's main priority now is not simply growing its user base but turning Revolut from a “travel card” into customers' main bank for everyday life. To that end, the company is opening regulated offices in various countries, adding local accounts, loans and mortgage products, and experimenting with areas only loosely connected to banking — mobile phone service, for instance.

“Show me something that someone else does and Revolut doesn't. Everything is on the table,” Fast stressed, adding that the company has already found success in mortgage lending and intends to keep building on that.

Kuba Fast was born in Poland, studied at the University of Warsaw and earned an MBA at Harvard Business School. He began his career at the consultancy McKinsey, then ran the retail division at Poland's mBank, and from 2019 built the digital bank Chase UK within JPMorgan, which he led from 2024 until his move to Revolut.
