Czech entrepreneur Viktor Fischer, founder of the investment group RockawayX, has announced the acquisition of New York-based hedge fund Relayer Capital — a deal that completes his company's investment cycle and, he says, makes RockawayX unique on the global digital asset market.
The 48-year-old Fischer is one of the Czech Republic's leading experts in cryptocurrency and blockchain investment. He has long compared his ambition to the American giant Citadel, one of the most influential players in global financial markets, with roughly $70 billion in assets under management. “My goal has always been to build the same kind of Citadel, but for digital assets, and to become the best and largest manager in the world in this field,” Fischer says in an interview with CzechCrunch.
Today RockawayX manages assets worth nearly $2 billion, which translates to roughly 40 billion crowns, and the company intends to keep growing.
Fischer launched the project in 2018 under the wing of Jakub Havrlant's investment group Rockaway Capital, and today RockawayX is a fully independent entity. Over the years the company has steadily expanded its range of strategies: first a venture fund for early-stage startups, then a market-neutral fund for lending to blockchain projects, and now a hedge fund for trading already-listed tokens and shares.
It is precisely this last step that the purchase of Relayer Capital completes; according to CzechCrunch, RockawayX paid somewhere between a few million and just over ten million dollars for it. Once the deal closes, the fund will be renamed RockawayX Liquid Opportunities Fund, and its founder, Austin Barack, will remain at the helm.
Thanks to this acquisition, RockawayX can now support a blockchain company through every stage of its development — from seed capital through debt financing all the way to support after a token or shares go public. According to Fischer, no other group in the world can currently offer such a complete set of investment instruments in the digital asset space.
RockawayX's overall scale is made up of two parts. Across four investment strategies — venture funds, the market-neutral fund, blockchain “vaults” and now the hedge fund — the company manages roughly $1.1 billion (more than 22 billion crowns). The second pillar of the business is its own technology platform: RockawayX operates seven data centers worldwide with its own staking and RPC servers, which, according to Fischer, are entrusted with a further $700 million (more than 14 billion crowns) in assets.
The company has 60 employees, with offices in Prague, London, New York and Dubai. Some of the capital comes from Rockaway Capital's own funds, but the bulk today comes from outside investors. As Fischer notes, each new strategy emerged as the market itself matured — from the early days of projects like Solana and Ethereum to today's stage, where blockchain-based applications already generate real revenue, including stablecoins, exchanges like Hyperliquid, and betting platforms Shuffle and Stake.com.
