Harrachov is a compact ski resort on the western edge of the Giant Mountains (Krkonoše), best for families and beginners: four slopes on Čertova hora (Devil's Mountain), 1.3 to 2.2 km long, and two four-seat chairlifts. By car it is 129 km from Prague (1 h 50), 189 km from Dresden (2 h 40) and 363 km from Berlin (4 h 30). The longest day ticket covers 6 hours: in 2026/27 an adult pays CZK 1,040 (about €43) until 22 December and from 15 March, and CZK 1,160 (about €48) from 23 December to 14 March. The operator says the season starts "during December" and names no date; the cableway has been shut since 2 November. Around Prague checked prices, hours and timetables on the official websites on 2 November 2026.

Who Harrachov suits

Families, beginners and weekend skiers who like short distances. The four main slopes drop 300–350 m, all with snowmaking. For 50 km of pistes see Černá hora – Pec in Skiing in Czechia 2026/27. The cross-country trails at the National Sports Centre stadium are free except during competitions; the 2.2 km loop is always groomed.

The glassworks, brewery, ski jumps and waterfall

The Harrachov Glassworks (Nový Svět 95) belongs to the firm Novosad a syn and says it was founded before 1712. The 45-minute tour covers glassblowers at the furnace, a grinding shop from 1895 and the glass museum with over 5,000 exhibits. Tours in German or English run at fixed times in the booking system at the same price; otherwise you get a printed translation. Book online up to 14 days ahead and until 15 minutes before the start. Blowing your own glass ball is CZK 3,000 for 15 minutes; book a day ahead. On site the microbrewery makes unfiltered, unpasteurised beer.

Harrachov has nine ski jumps. The ski-flying (mammoth) hill, one of only five in the world, has been out of use since 2014, according to the National Sports Centre. The town lists the jumps among its sights, but no site gives prices or visiting hours.

The Mumlava waterfall (Mumlavský vodopád) is less than 1.5 km from the town and almost 10 m high. A paved, blue-marked path leads from the bus station past the Šindelka; cars are not allowed.

Where to stay

We name no hotels or prices. The tourist office lists hotels, pensions, apartments, chalets, private rooms and camping at harrachovcard.cz. Choose by location:

Ask about the distance to Delta or Alfa, parking and the nearest ski bus stop. In the 2025/26 timetable the ski bus (skiers only) cost an adult CZK 20 and a child of 6–15 CZK 10, nothing with the Harrachov Card; some trips ran only 25 December to 15 March. The 2026/27 timetable is not out. Guests over 5 who stay in town or pay for all-day parking at the central car park get the Harrachov Card. The spa tax is CZK 30 per guest, says the tourist office, without naming the period.
