A guided Prague walking tour costs from 450 CZK with Premiant and 600 CZK with the city-owned Prague City Tourism. Free walking tours start at the Powder Gate, the Rudolfinum and Old Town Square, but organisers suggest tipping 200–750 CZK per person. Entry to Prague Castle (450 CZK) and the Jewish Museum (600 CZK) is usually extra on standard tours, and street guides must wear a Czech guide card. Around Prague checked prices, schedules and rules on the websites of operators, museums and public authorities on 30 October 2026.

Free Walking Tour Prague recommends 250–750 CZK per person in its English FAQ and 200–500 CZK in its German one; I Love Walking mentions 10–50 US dollars. Our calculation: tip 450 CZK and a free tour costs the same as Premiant's paid walk.

Yes. Since 1 March 2021, under Act 159/1999 Sb., only holders of the national guide card (průkaz průvodce) may guide in Czechia, and it must be worn visibly. Grade I requires no proof of qualification, grade II does, and both carry the same rights. You can check a guide through the QR code and the Ministry for Regional Development's public list. Guiding without a card can mean a fine of up to 100,000 CZK, and free-tour guides are no exception. Exemptions cover guides inside castles and museums, and EU guides working temporarily after notifying the ministry. Prague Castle and the Jewish Museum issue their own licences. Asociace průvodců ČR is a voluntary association with a guide catalogue.
