By train and bus: Lednice only. Our sample weekday: leave Prague at 7:37, reach Lednice at 11:30, take the 14:00 tour, walk the park and catch the 17:30 bus to be back at 21:23. That gives you 6 hours in Lednice and 7 h 46 min of travel.
By car: all three, if you start early. By our calculation from a route planner, the loop from Prague is 524 km and about 5 h 50 min of driving. In November go on Friday to Sunday, when Mikulov Castle opens.
With one night: the better plan. One option for November, based on the timetable for 4–7 November: leave Prague on Friday at 7:37, take the 14:00 Lednice tour, ride bus 555 at 15:33 to Valtice, see the Christmas tour or the Wine Salon, then take the 17:51 S8 to Mikulov. Spend Saturday there and leave at 15:53.

The Liechtenstein family took over Lednice in 1322. The look you see today dates from 1846–1858, when Prince Alois II rebuilt it as a summer residence in the English Gothic style. Both Lednice and Valtice belong to the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996 that covers almost 300 km².
Buy tour tickets at the central box office in the riding halls, or online for a few set times. Individual visitors do not need to book. The Private Apartments are closed until spring.
From 11 November the Prince's Apartment and part of the main route fill with Czech and Moravian glass ornaments. You walk it alone, with panels in Czech and short English text. The Wine Salon in the castle cellars shows the country's top 100 wines of the year. The two-hour tasting covers all of them, and a card system starts at 150 CZK plus a 100 CZK deposit. It closes on Mondays and, outside summer, on Sundays. The Rendez-vous temple, the Colonnade and the castle wine cellar closed on 1 November.
On Saturday 14 November, from 15:00 to 19:00, the castle's Spanish Stable hosts a young wine tasting with a blessing at 15:15: 350 CZK at the door, no booking. Our St Martin's Day guide explains the tradition.
Much of Mikulov is outdoors and free, so it still works after the castle closes. Holy Hill (Svatý kopeček, 363 m) is a nature reserve with a Way of the Cross leading to St Sebastian's Chapel. Kozí hrádek, a 15th-century artillery tower, opens only when its flag is flying, for 30 CZK. New paths and a viewing deck were added around it in 2026.
The Dietrichstein Tomb reopened on 3 April 2026 after an 18-month break. It is the former St Anne's Church, rebuilt as a family tomb in 1845–1852, and you can only enter with a guide. At Mikulov Castle, a valid South Moravian IDS JMK ticket takes 20% off.
Yes by car. By public transport it is not practical: Lednice alone takes 3 h 53 min each way.
