Man Releases Swarm of Bees Right Outside Shop Entrance at Gas Station in Jablonec nad Nisou

A bizarre incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon, August 1, at a MOL petrol station on Palackého Street in Jablonec nad Nisou. The driver of a Mitsubishi pulled up outside the station's shop and released an entire swarm of bees from his car, saying he wanted to see whether they would find their way back home on their own.

According to Jana Fričová, spokesperson for the Jablonec city hall, a station employee said the driver had warned her in advance about his plan — and he followed through. Municipal police later reconstructed the whole scene using CCTV footage.

The footage shows the man first parking near the shop entrance, buying a coffee and standing outside for a while as he drank it. He then turned to a station employee standing nearby and said: "I'm going to let my bees out here. I'm curious whether they'll make it back home on their own."

He then opened the boot of his car, from which a large swarm of bees immediately flew out, got back in his vehicle and drove off. Some of the insects flew away, but others made their way straight into the shop, where customers happened to be at the time.

Fričová said municipal police identified the car's owner and handed the case over to the Czech Police, who are continuing the investigation. The bees eventually vanished from the shop, and fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.
