Energy group ČEZ has filed lawsuits against the freezing of companies linked to the Diag Human case. ČEZ announced the freeze itself on Monday: it was approved by Luxembourg's judiciary at the request of Diag Human, the firm of entrepreneur Josef Šťáva. The Czech-Swiss businessman is seeking compensation of about CZK 17 billion from the state. ČEZ called the step by the Luxembourg authorities unlawful and harassment, since it had nothing to do with the case.
According to ČEZ, the company received a notice from a Luxembourg bailiff about two decisions. They concern Czech Gas Networks (CGN), in which ČEZ holds about 55%, and its wholly owned subsidiary Czech Gas Networks Investments (CGNI). CGNI owns the Czech company Czech Grid Holding, which in turn owns GasNet and GasNet Služby. ČEZ's majority owner is the state, with a stake of about 70%.
“According to the notice, these decisions restrict CGN and CGNI in disposing of assets belonging to the Czech Republic and ČEZ that these companies hold,” ČEZ said.
In response, the company stressed that Diag Human SE has no, and never had any, legal claim or other legal basis against ČEZ or any other company in the group on which it could seek any enforcement or take legal action against them.
