Indian summer in Czechia goes on: at the end of the working week and into next week, the country can expect dry weather that is warm for October. According to forecasters, warm, dry air will flow in from the south around an area of high pressure over Central and then Eastern Europe.
Thursday will be mostly partly clear, with fog in places in the morning, some of it lifting only by noon. Highs will be between 12 and 17 °C, with light winds. On Friday it will be sunny across most of the country, though morning fog or low cloud is possible, especially in Czechia. Mornings will be chilly, with temperatures of 6 to 0 °C and ground frost in places, while daytime highs will climb to 14–19 °C.
On Saturday there will be noticeably more cloud, although the east may start out almost clear. Temporary rain or showers will arrive from the west, above all in Czechia, but amounts will be small, mostly up to 5 millimetres. Overnight lows will be 8 to 3 °C, falling to zero in the east with a risk of frost; daytime highs will reach 13–18 °C, slightly cooler in parts of the west. The wind will be moderate and north-westerly.
On Sunday morning it will be cloudy with some precipitation in places, especially in Czechia, but cloud and rain will ease during the day. The night will be milder, at 10 to 5 °C. The day, by contrast, will be cooler, at 11–16 °C, with a moderate north-easterly wind. The cold front that arrives from the north-west on Saturday will break up over the country, so it will hardly change the weather.
At the start of the week, the weather will again be shaped by a powerful high-pressure area centred over Northern Europe. It will be mostly sunny, with plenty of fog or low cloud at night and in the morning, which will mostly clear during the day. Almost no rain is expected, only a light drizzle at most.
Morning temperatures will be around 5 °C, dropping to zero in places, with ground frost. Daytime will be warmer than usual for this time of year, at around 15 °C, staying cooler where the fog lingers longer. No significant change is in sight in the longer-term outlook either, so the spell of sunny days with a big gap between morning and afternoon temperatures, typical of a golden Indian summer, may well drag on.
