The disciplinary committee of the Czech ice hockey extraliga fined Plzeň defenceman and team captain Jeřábek for a dangerous hit in the 32nd minute of the match, even though referees Sýkora and Jaroš chose not to send him off the ice. Despite that, the committee's chairman decided the incident deserved a separate review.
Jeřábek committed the foul while his team was on the penalty kill. The panel settled on a fine, even though the rules would have allowed a suspension of two to five games.
“In a battle near the net, Jeřábek hit his opponent with his stick, held in both hands, striking the upper body, while simultaneously tripping him with his left leg, causing an uncontrolled fall onto the ice,” the committee said in its ruling.
The panel also reviewed an incident from Sunday's match between Mladá Boleslav and Liberec: Mladá Boleslav defenceman Vojtěch Budík received a five-minute major plus a game misconduct for checking Ondřej Procházka into the boards. He received no further punishment, nor did Liberec's Jaroslav Vlach, who later fought with Budík and also failed to finish the game.
