Apple buys Czech company PlasmaSolve from Brno

Tech giant Apple has acquired the Czech company PlasmaSolve, founded in Brno in 2016. News of the deal emerged only because of EU regulatory requirements, which oblige companies to notify the European Union of major acquisitions or transactions that could affect the bloc's market, according to appleinsider.com.

Apple typically does not disclose information about its acquisitions and only does so when required by regulators.

PlasmaSolve specializes in developing software for simulating plasma processes, helping manufacturers design and refine plasma-based technologies. The company's flagship product is MatSight, a platform that models the outcomes of applying thin metal coatings to product surfaces and helps optimize the process.

According to available information, Apple has long used this very technology in the production of certain iPhone models — to apply a durable thin coating to device casings, protecting them from scratches and other damage.

Appleinsider.com also noted that the MatSight platform has been pulled from sale, and the company's dedicated website for the software has been taken down.
