Florida plane crash video: fireball by the road and a crater

Video from the scene of the disaster in Florida shows a private plane descending steeply and then turning into a huge fireball not far from a main road. There were nine people on board. The plane came down on Sunday in a residential area and exploded on impact, a US news agency reports.

The aircraft took off from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed for the Bahamas, according to authorities. The fate of those involved remains unclear: it has not been established whether anyone on the ground was hurt or whether any of the nine people on board survived. A US newspaper reports that officials speak of several deaths.

The footage shows a huge crater left in the roadway after the crash, with flames bursting out of it. Thick black smoke rose over the scene. People can also be seen running toward the site, shaken that the plane came down so close to homes.
