The founder of one of Prague's most highly rated bakeries, Vladislav Bogdanov, has opened the third branch of his La Forme chain — this time right in the heart of Prague, on Rytířská street. The new bakery-café is the largest in the chain so far, and the entrepreneur is already thinking about further expansion, including beyond Czechia.
Inspired by Scandinavian aesthetics, the La Forme chain began in 2019 with a tiny bakery in Dejvice that had almost no seating and worked mostly on a takeaway basis. Last year a second branch opened in Holešovice — a pure café this time, with pastries brought in from the original bakery. The new spot on Rytířská combines both formats: it has its own bakery turning out filled croissants, Danish pastries and sweet braided buns, plus a cosy café with seating for twenty.
“Our concept works, people keep coming back, so expanding made logical and economic sense,” explains Bogdanov, who had long had his eye on central Prague for his project. In his view, there can never be enough places with a solid coffee menu and artisanal pastries — especially in the city centre.
The entrepreneur does not rule out that the new café's opening hours could eventually change and wine could appear on the menu — if the spot catches on with locals as successfully as it did in Dejvice. For now, Bogdanov's plans include opening a La Forme bakery abroad, as well as hunting for premises for another Prague location, something he says he does “literally every day.”
Besides La Forme, Bogdanov also co-owns Dejvice's pizzeria Diskotéka Pizza, which opened last September and has already made a list of Europe's most promising pizzerias.
